Childhood Trauma: Can Someone Reject Life If They Experienced Childhood Trauma?

Childhood Trauma: Can Someone Reject Life If They Experienced Childhood Trauma?

If someone’s early years were anything but nurturing, it would have meant that they didn’t receive what needed in order to develop in the right way. To say that this would have been a challenging time in their life will most likely be an understatement.

Year after year, it could have been a living hell, and they could be amazed that they were able to handle this stage of their life. What this will show is how strong the human spirit is and how strong they are.

It’s not over

However, although what took place will be over, it doesn’t mean that they have been able to truly move on from what happened. Now that they are an adult, their life might not be very fulfilling.

In fact, they could be in a very bad way, and often wonder if there is any point to their existence. Ergo, their early years will have been incredibly difficult and their adult years won’t be a lot different.

Inner World

When it comes to their emotional experience on this earth, they could often feel down and empty. There could also be moments when they are filled with fear and anxiety and they could find it more or less impossible to settle down during these moments.

There is also the chance that they will spend a lot of time up top, so to speak. This will be a time when their point of awareness will be in their head and they will be out of touch with what is taking place in their body.

Outer World

Due to what is generally taking place inside them, they are going to find it hard to feel safe. It won’t matter where they are as their inner experience will often be projected onto their outer environment and the people who they come into contact with.

Along with this, what is taking place internally will cause them to co-create situations, circumstances, and events that won’t be life-affirming. But, even though they will be playing a part in what they experience, it could seem as though this is just how life is and that they are not playing a part in their experience.

As for the people in their life, there could be a number of people who are not a good match for them. Through not feeling completely at ease around them, they could have the tendency to lose themselves in their company.

Their main priority is then going to be to do what they can to please them and what they think will please them. The interactions that they have with these people are then seldom, if ever, going to uplift them.

Another Area

If they have a job, apart from the money that they receive at the end of each month, it might not do much for them. Not only could what they do be incredibly soul-destroying, but a few of the people who they work with might not make their experience any better.

The best part of their workday could be the end and they might spend a lot of time thinking about the end of the week. And whenever they have time off, they might find it very hard to go back to work again.

The Story Continues

If they knew what their life would be like as time went by, they might have been happy to call it a day very early on. It might have been as if they were fighting to stay alive for something that simply wasn’t worth staying alive for.

To be a human being will be seen as a burden as opposed to a blessing or a gift. So, if they were to take a step back here, they may see that firstly, they don’t want to be here, and secondly, they don’t feel safe enough to be here.

The Next Step

Based on what is currently going on for them, they might not be able to see a way forward. The key here will be for one to keep in mind that what is going on internally and externally is not set in stone; this is something that can change.

Naturally, their life is not going to change overnight; it will take patience and persistence. If they can find within themselves the part of them that does want to be here and the part of them that does believe that their life can be different, they will be able to gradually change their life.

One Step at a Time

It might not always be possible for them to stay connected to these parts and this is not something that they need to be too concerned about. Through working on their own trauma and finding things on this earth that lift them up and bring them joy; the healthy parts of them will grow.

For one thing, spending time in nature is likely to be extremely beneficial when it comes to this process. This is somewhere where one can start to develop an inner sense of safety and security and, thereby, make it easier for them to connect to and stay in, their own body.

If one can relate to this, and they are ready to change their own life, they may need to reach out for external support. This is something that can take place with the assistance of a therapist or healer.
